Lockdown Life
So we may have our family, equestrian and outdoor shoots on hold for the time being with Covid-19. But it's certainly not let it stop us! I'm certainly guilty of complaining about not having enough time do things I want or need to. So I've turned this difficult period of time for many into an opportunity to embrace.
A big thing on my list for the last couple of months has been creating backdrops for my product photography. Especially as I am lucky enough to have a studio at home and I can safely still work from. So I hit Pinterest for some inspiration!

I loved the stone/slate/cement effect here and wanted to create something as close to this as possible. These types of surfaces are fantastic for all kinds of themed shoots, a great starting point!
So I grabbed my board of mdf that my mum had kindly donated months back, acrylics from Hobbycraft and new fancy sponge and got to work 🎨

I got stuck straight into the lighter stone backdrop, mixing pearl white, white and pearl black. Dapping was key to getting the stippled effect that creates that stone like texture.

It's definitely something fun to create, even if you're not looking to create it for photography. Or maybe you're looking to step up your instagram feed or be artistic despite not having an artistic bone in your body!
So by building up the layers, adding colours in different places and blending together - you'll quickly see the build up come together and start to take shape.

So once both sides were done it was off outside to dry-out in the gorgeous sunshine we've been having and also to confuse the neighbours. We definitely know what we want to attempt next...MARBLE!
