Exploring Sunny Seaham

It was a rare day off at MHG, so we took the opportunity to go and visit The Flamingo Bar and Cafe in Seaham. They have the most mouth-watering Instagram page and we just couldn't resist!

What a delight it was, the coffee tasted fantastic, the sea view incredible and the chicken and avocado I had on sourdough was to die for! So 5* from us, even pup Maggie enjoyed her treats from the counter.

It's the perfect spot to stop off, re-fuel and snap some shots for your socials! We've never been to such a beautiful cafe.

Next, off we set off around the harbour exploring all the boats and seafood options. There are stacks of things to do in and around Seaham, like Adventure Valley and Durham Cathedral for all you Harry Potter fans.

Here's what This is Durham has to say about Seaham

'Visit Seaham, the lively harbour town on Durham’s Heritage Coast.

Admire the dramatic clifftop views, seek out one of England's oldest churches or simply relax at the beach in Seaham.

The tranquil beauty of the sandy North Beach, with its inviting rock pools, is sheltered by a long sea wall which also protects the cliffs from the power of the North Sea. Grab an ice cream or simply enjoy the stunning view from Seaham Harbour Marina or set off on a walk along the coastal footpath to reveal breathtaking views.

Don't miss the perfect photo opportunity with "Tommy" the WWI statue, and visit the heritage and lifeboat centre where the George Elmy is on permanent display. and you'll be spoilt for choice when its time to refuel with a wide selection of bars, cafés and restaurants along a busy seafront

A sense of history is never far away, one of the most outstanding features in Seaham is St. Mary the Virgin Church, recognised as one of the 20 oldest surviving churches in the whole country. Located to the north of the town this old Anglo Saxon church has roots thought to date back to the 7th Century.  No visit to Seaham would be complete without a trip to nearby Dalton Park; find bargains galore at the region’s biggest outlet shopping centre.'

Let us know if you get a chance to visit and definitely show us what you ordered at The Flamingo!
